Daily Ritual...

Read on other author blogs that they start their daily ritual by Googling themselves. Became neurotic because I hadn't done that yet. Googled self because it's what authors do. Found blank results.

Pondered the meaning of blank results.

If I'm not on Google, am I real?

Googled 'Tree falls in forest' and 'Cat box theory'.

If something is not perceived, does it exist?

Spent the next hour on Wikipedia reading about Quantum Mechanics.

Brain hurts.

Decide that the answer is pi...as in Chocolate Bavarian Pie.

Chocolate. Nature's way of saying...."Don't worry. Be happy."

I Fought the Door...and the Door Won

Now, my friends might hint that I'm not the most coordinated person out there. Cruel untruths, I say.

I'm the girl that goes down the stairs in the dark, holding a glass of wine, turns her ankle, then in an attempt to save the wine - it seemed like a good idea at the time -, turns her other ankle and falls face first on the ground. Lost the wine and broke the glass, too, just to add insult to injury. So yeah, sprained both ankles and lost my wine.

So today, while getting new linens - why yes, even neighborhood renowned authors have to change their own bedsheets - I was jumped by a door, out of nowhere...and the door won. This is what happened. Exactly.

The Year of the Wank....

So far this year, there has been a lot of wank regarding authors behaving badly. I must say that Meljean Brook's 'diaries' have been the most entertaining shocking. Go check out her blog if you're curious about the true inner workings of a writer's brain.

All kidding aside, Brook's take on the recent kerfuffle is downright snarky brilliance.

Master Chief Petty Officer Jackson Monroe hated running. That hadn’t always been the case but after twenty years in the Federation’s Navy, time had finally caught up with him in the form of a solid hour of pure pain. Eighteen months ago, regardless of terrain, an hour of running would have been nothing. Hardly enough to break him into a sweat unless he pushed himself racing his Raider teammates, the Wolf Pack. But he had been whole then.

His new reality was a bluish tint to his face because his overworked lungs simply refused to process the lifesaving oxygen any faster. It was probably due to the fact they were now burning with fiery vengeance, his lower back was screaming with every movement, and his left knee felt like it was about to crumble into dust if he took another step. His whole body felt like it would burst into flames at any minute. The only good thing was that his right knee felt fine. Actually, the titanium joint and attaching rods felt nothing. Never would.
